Accidents, as in "chance happenings" (according to Webster), are hardly chance at all. Accidents don't just happen. They are caused - caused by indifference and by incompetence. A meteor hitting your car is an accident, everything else is driver error. If you don't believe that, this book will convince you.
Race drivers use their eyes, hands and feet; and yes - their brains; in ways which can be applied to everyday driving to help avoid unwelcome surprises and potentially dangerous situations before they hit us like the proverbial brick wall.
No, we are not talking about NASCAR, whose drivers hit walls on a regular basis. Race driving skill references here are taken from auto racing without walls. This book shows you how to develop these skills and utilize them on a daily basis toward becoming a safer and more confident driver. Race driving, itself, cannot be learned from books, and is not covered here.

Barnes & Noble Review:
Everyone who drives should read this book.
The devil is in the details, as they say. And it's knowing the details in this book that may save your life on the road one day. This is NOT a book about driving fast, but about driving better and about understanding what you are doing. Nor is it purely a How-to treatment of the subject. Rather, it is a study of how to improve your chances of survival on the public road. I've not seen another book like it. Considering the distraction prone drivers of today, a book like this is long overdue.
Al Karasa does a remarkable job of conveying complex information in layman's terms. It matters little if you are an expert driver, professionally trained, or a beginner seeking your first license, you will learn equally from this book. I'll see to it that my 16-year old reads it before he gets his license.
