Sherridan's Rain is a novel set amongst the sports car and Grand
Prix racing scene in Europe and England during the late 1950s. It focuses on two characters, the first an English driver initially
with the Maserati team and then with Aston Martin. His racing and personal experiences are detailed, including keeping his
wife.
The second character is an American journalist who falls for a rich,
personable, and married, Ferrari driver from Spain. She becomes enthralled with the racing world and begins writing for
a motorsports weekly to maintain herself in that world.
Written by Al Karasa, who prepares and maintains his own racing
cars and participates in race driving education, this novel's primary interest to readers is description of driving, race
strategies, the race scene behind the scenes, and actual courses of exotic races incuding Le Mans, Nurburgring, and Spa.
The Targa Florio and Mille Miglia chapters are the most entertaining,
with extensive descriptions of racing and the exuberance of the Sicilian and Italian crowds. Also of interest, and seldom
seen elsewhere, are descriptions of tire, suspension, and egine testing on the race tracks, specifically Silverstone and Monza.
